  • Drillbits 3 to 10mm (1/8 to 3/8 inch)

  • Log slice (10cm / 4 inch long), ,
  • string

step 1 - Drill holes

  • When drilling, make sure you dont drill all the way trough the log slice.
  • Drill holes in the log slice using the different drill sizes.

step 2 - Remove splinters

  • Splinters at the entry of a hole can damage the fragile wings of the insects. Make sure not to skip this step.
  • Use some sanding paper to remove any splinters at the openings of the holes.

step 3 - Mounting string

  • Tie the string in a loop
  • Partially hammer a nail into the back of the log slice.
  • Place the string next to the nail, and hammer the nail down over the string.

step 4 - Hang the hotel

  • Hang the hotel against a wall.
  • Make sure the wall faces the sun for at least part of the day.
  • Try hanging it in a place where it wont be rained on too much.
