Make a fake-leather pouch with a press stud and a name plate

step 1 - Cut the fake leather

  • Cut out the big shape on the paper template.
  • Use the paper template to trace out the shape on the back of the fake leather.
  • Cut the sides of the template and trace again.
  • Cut out the outer lines on the fake leather with the knife or the scissors.

step 2 - Punch out the holes

  • Use the template to find the position of the holes.
  • Make sure to use the correct size hole punch for the press-stud and the rivets. Their sizes may differ from eachother.
  • Use the hole punch to punch out the holes for the press stud and the pop rivets.

step 3 - Attach the press stud

  • Fix the press stud in place, with the nice side of the stud facing the nice side of the fabric. The outside facing oart of the press-stud should be on the pointy side of the fabric.

step 4 - Sew the sides together

  • Fold the fake-leather, with the nice side facing in.
  • Sew the sides together over the line you drew earlier.

step 5 - Turn inside-out

  • Cut the corners by the fold. Make sure not to cut into the stitches.
  • Turn the pouch right side out, and test your press-stud.

step 6 - The name plate

  • Take one of the metal plates and sand/file off the sharp edges.
  • Cut out the smaller shape on the paper template.
  • Transfer the hole locations from the template to the metal plate using the centerpunch.
  • Drill out the holes.
  • Use the letter punches to punch out your name in the metal.

step 7 - Attach the name plate

  • Place the plate on the outside of the pouch.
  • Put a rivet trough the hole in the plate and pouch.
  • Put a washer on the inside of the rivet.
  • Use the rivet tool to fasten the rivet.
  • Repeat for the other hole.

step 8 - Done!

  • You're all done! Enjoy your creation.
