step 1 - Cut the fabric to size
- Use the ruler and the mark out an 8 x 8 inch square.
- Use the fabric scissors to cut your piece of fabric.
step 2 - Embroidery (optional)

- Later on we will fold the fabric in half. Take this into account when you place your embroidery design.
- If you have an embroidery machine, use it to customise your fabric.
step 3 - Sewing the zipper

- If your sewing machine has a zipper foot, use that. If not, you can use a regular foot.
- Place the fabric on the table, the outside facing up. Place the zipper on top of the fabric, with the zipper teeth facing down. Align the zipper with the edge of the fabric. The zipper should stick out a bit on the left and right.
- Pin the zipper to the fabric.
- Sew the zipper to the fabric. Try to sew aw close to the fabric as you can.
- Fold the fabric over so the other side of the zipper lines up with the other side of the fabric.
- Sew the other side of the zipper.
step 4 - Finishing the zipper

- Split the zipper.
- Fold the zipper and the fabric so that the zipper teeth are now facing out. Sew again, from the outside of the pouch. Try to make straight line and make sure to catch the zipper's fabric in the seam.
step 5 - Attach the zipper pull

- For this step, it helps if someone else can help. having 3 hands available makes this a lot easier.
- This can be finicky. Take your time and be patient.
step 6 - Closing the sides

- If you used a zipper foot, now is the time to switch back to the regular foot.
- Fold the pencil pouch inside out.
- Fold the webbing and place it inside the pouch from the side. We want to sew it in place when we close that side.
- Sew the side closed, making sure to catch the webbing in the seam. Make sure to ga back and forth a few times at the start and end of the seams to make sure it doesn't come undone.
- Repeat on the other side, but without the webbing.
step 7 - Finished!

- Fold the pencilcase right side out.
- You can add some more personalisation to the zipper pull if you wish.
- You're done!.
