step 1 - Mark and cut the cardboard

- Trace out a mouth plate on the cardboard. Look at the width of the sock for an indication of how big it should be.
- Cut out the mouth plate.
step 2 - Trace and cut felt

- I used red for the inside of the mouth. As its your puppet you can choose any color. Black for a bit more of a monster look. Or purple for something unique.
- Trace the mouthplate onto some felt.
- Cut out the felt.
step 3 - Create the mouth

- Cut open the front of the sock.
- Glue in the mouth plate. Cut away any excess sock.
- Glue the felt inside the mouth to cover up the cardboard.
step 4 - Add the eyes

- Choose two styrofoam balls to use as eyes.
- Try some different eye positions before glueing them down. The spacing of the eyes can make a big difference on how your sock puppet will look.
- Use a marker to draw some pupils onto the eyes.
step 5 - Add more details

- Create a tounge from some felt.
- I used some fake fur as hair. You can also use a bunch of yarn for hair, or some craft foam for spikes instead of hair.
- You can make some teeth from a thin piece of craft foam.
step 6 - Finished!

- Give your puppet a name and a little back story and you're all done!.
